Additional Adapter Capabilities

The adapter supports SSL encryption of data over the network. SQL Server can be configured with a server certificate to support data encryption. Use the Encrypt property to control the use of SSL encryption for data interchange with SQL Server.

The adapter supports a range of configurable timeouts for opening and closing connections and sending and receiving messages. It also supports setting the WorkstationId property. This can be used to provide SQL Server with a connection-specific ID that represents the network client. The NetBIOS name of the BizTalk Server provides an appropriate ID value for tracing purposes.

The SQL adapter and WCF adapter SDK provide a range of performance counters to monitor connection requests and usage, outbound calls, latency and caching. Use the EnablePerformanceCounters property to enable or disable these performance counters.
